Readings & Talks
As a visiting author, I offer dynamic presentations, stimulating
discussions, and interactive, experiential activities for groups.
I work with audiences of any size, from small seminars or classes
to large public gatherings. I specialize in readings, keynotes,
public lectures, and campus visits.
Content is drawn from my scholarly and creative work and formatted to meet your
particular needs. Recent topics include: creative sustainability, John Burroughs’ vision
of local nature, practicing wildness in the city, learning from nature on campus,
and the counter-pastoral impulse in American literature.
A campus visit can include any combination of class meetings, faculty or student
workshops, informal meetings with students, a field trip, a public lecture and/or
a reading.
